Why Cortexa + AI Agents?

AI coding agents are powerful but forgetful. Every session starts from zero. Cortexa fixes that.

The Gap

What agents do wellWhat agents can't do
Read your codebaseRemember what you discussed last week
Write code from specsKnow WHY you chose one approach over another
Search files by patternSurface a debugging insight from a different project
Follow instructionsBuild on decisions made across 50 sessions

Claude Code has a built-in memory system (.claude/ files), but it's:

  • Per-project — insights from Project A don't surface in Project B
  • Per-agent — Cursor can't see Claude Code's memories
  • Flat text — no semantic search, no structured analysis
  • Small scale — works for dozens of entries, not thousands

What Cortexa Adds

1. Cross-Session Memory

Every decision, discovery, and debug finding is captured, encrypted, and embedded. Six months from now, when you hit the same problem, Cortexa surfaces your own prior notes — ranked by semantic similarity.

2. Cross-Project Intelligence

Working on a rate limiter in Project B? Cortexa surfaces the one you built in Project A three months ago, including what went wrong and what you'd do differently.

3. Cross-Agent Knowledge

Captured a decision in Cursor? Claude Code sees it via MCP. Debug finding from Codex? It's in the same vault. Every agent contributes to and benefits from the same knowledge base.

4. Zero-Prompt Context Injection

Run cortexa-cli sync-context and a .cortexa-context.md file appears in your project with relevant prior decisions. Claude Code reads it automatically. No tool call needed.

5. Structured Analysis

The Deep Think pipeline doesn't just store your thoughts — it stress-tests them:

  • Expand — decomposes into sub-questions and applies thinking lenses
  • Critique — contradiction detection against your own archive
  • Synthesize — structured brief with readiness gates and confidence levels

6. Knowledge Compounding

This is the key: every thought you capture makes every future session smarter. The vault compounds. After a year of capturing decisions, your agents have an institutional memory that no amount of prompt engineering can replicate.

The Flow

You capture a thought
  → encrypted + embedded + indexed
→ next session, agent calls cortexa_context
      → your prior decisions surface
→ better code, fewer repeated mistakes

Real Example

Without Cortexa:

You: "Fix the auth middleware"
Agent: *reads the code, makes reasonable guesses about intent*

With Cortexa:

You: "Fix the auth middleware"
Agent: *calls cortexa_context("auth middleware")*
Agent: "I found 3 relevant items in your vault:
  - [Decision] Auth middleware rewrite driven by legal/compliance (May 2)
  - [Debug] Token refresh race condition fix — use atomic swap (Apr 18)
  - [Pattern] Always validate tokens server-side, never trust client claims (Mar 5)
I'll keep these in mind while fixing the issue."

The agent doesn't just fix the code — it fixes it in a way that's consistent with your established decisions and learned patterns.

Built with Rust, Tauri, and a lot of captured thoughts.
